01 · OVERVIEW
Evolving an iconic global brand
Visa’s business had expanded far beyond the physical card, but its visual identity did not fully reflect the scale, openness, and movement of the global network. Working in close partnership with Mucho, we evolved the brand into a more connected and flexible design system for the digital economy.
The evolution needed to preserve the recognition and trust Visa had built over decades while creating a broader expression of what the company had become: a global payment network connecting people, businesses, and economies.

02 · PARTNERSHIP
As Global Design Director and internal design lead, I worked with Mucho, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to shape the system, test it against real business needs, and guide implementation across Visa’s global organization.
My role connected the creative ambition of the evolution with the complexity of a global business, ensuring the system could work across markets, products, audiences, and channels.
We reviewed the evolving system against real examples from consumer and B2B marketing, product, sponsorship, and regional work. This helped identify where it needed more range, clearer guidance, or additional tools before the global rollout.

03 · IDENTITY SYSTEM
One connected visual system
The evolved system brought core identity elements into a more cohesive relationship, creating brand-level recognition while allowing flexibility across audiences, markets, products, and channels.
A key decision was to create one recognizable foundation without forcing every part of the business to look the same. The shared system created consistency at the brand level while allowing consumer, B2B, product, and sponsorship work to communicate in different ways.

04 · ACTIVATION & ADOPTION
The identity was tested and extended across the touchpoints that shape how people experience Visa—from digital products and communications to campaigns, environments, and sponsorships.
To move the system from principles into practice, we developed application guidance, tools, and examples based on the real needs of global and regional teams. We also worked across the organization to build alignment and help internal teams and agency partners adopt the system consistently.

05 · OUTCOME
The result was more than a refreshed visual identity: it was a unified design ecosystem that helped Visa express its role as a global network and gave teams a clearer foundation for creating cohesive work across the organization.
Testing and extending the system through real applications helped create a foundation that was both recognizable and flexible enough to support Visa’s global business.
